In earning the "Graduate Certificate in Social and Community Services" in 2003 I have learned the meaning of such systems as open and closed communities and how this impacts the public at large. Designed for professionals who desire greater knowledge and skills in the fundamentals of social and community services this graduate certificate has been the foundational program contributory to what I refer to as "communal thinking" in the public sector. This article will be based upon my work in the courses, "Philosophy of Social Work," "Utilization of Community Resources," and "Applied/Clinical Sociology."
